Welcome!

I’m Ailsa – a CELTA certified English tutor with a background in academic research and university tutoring. I call Scotland home; however I have lived in Denmark, and I’m now based in Sydney, Australia🌍. I understand many of the challenges – and opportunities – that come with settling into a new country or learning a new language, and I bring this understanding to my English lessons.

I’m passionate about supporting students on their English language journey, and helping them build their skills and confidence in meaningful and practical ways. For me, learning is so much easier in a positive and friendly environment. My lessons provide a supportive and structured environment where you feel comfortable, engaged and motivated.

My Background:

CELTA Certificate – Melbourne Training International
Masters (MRes) in Sociology and Research Methods
I also have 6 years of experience as a PhD researcher and university tutor in the fields of sociology, social work and social policy.

General English – For Pre-Intermediate to Upper-Intermediate students. Improve your reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills through engaging lessons.

Conversation Practice – Build fluency, vocabulary, and confidence in everyday conversation, whether for travel, socialising, or settling into life in a new country.

Pronunciation – Improve clarity, intonation, and natural rhythm to sound more confident and fluent.

I offer lessons focused on a single or multiple skills depending on your needs. I always develop lessons with your goals and interests in mind – whether you’re preparing for university, using English at work, or communicating socially.
